Photographer, Sally Mann's beautiful pictures aren't the typical photographs you see of children. Mann rose to notoriety with her 1995 series 'Immediate Family' in which she photographed her children at their home in rural Virginia. Mann was both criticized and lauded for her black and white depictions of her children's daily lives. In the introduction to her book Mann writes, "We are spinning a story of what it is to grow up. It is a complicated story and sometimes we try to take on the grand themes: anger, love, death, sensuality and beauty". Her work is a great portrayal of siblings and a childhood of running wild and free.

Peter Brook's 1963 adaptation of William Golding's classic debut novel, Lord of the Flies.
California based artist Andrea Zuill's illustrations of colourful, quirky and unhappy characters are surreal and darkly humorous. The 'little girl lost' feeling they have reminds me of 'The Lost Boys' from Peter Pan.
Photographs of girls from the Surma and the Mursi tribes from the Omo Valley on the borders of Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan.
